This year our 4th year Thesis Day presentations were held on Friday March 31, 2023 in the Residence Commons conference rooms on campus. Fellow students, supervisors, colleagues and family came to support our Honours Thesis students and celebrate their achievements.
Each year, two awards are given to Thesis students based on their outstanding performance and poster presentations. Below are the recipients for this year's awards.

Trystan is the winner of the F.K. North Award, which is awarded annually, on the basis of outstanding performance. This award goes to a student in their final year of the Honours Earth Sciences programs at Carleton University. This award was provided by friends and colleagues of Ken North, in recognition of his 19 years of service as a renowned teacher of Geology at Carleton University.

Mark is the winner of the Simon Guest Award, which is awarded annually, in memory of Simon Guest-a past student within the Geology Department. This award is given to a fourth year Honours student in Earth Sciences for outstanding poster presentation. Posters are reviewed and judged by Earth Science peers within the Department.
Separately, Mark was also awarded the GAC-PDAC Logan Prize for Carleton University 2023. The purpose of the Logan Student Trust Fund of GAC, with contributions from PDAC, is to "support the career and academic advancement of geoscience students". The student selected for this prize should be academically sound, have good leadership skills that pertain to organizing events, field trips and participating in Geology student clubs-Mark was co-president of the GeoSoc club this year-the student Geology club.
