Tuesday, May 9, 2017
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

This seminar is offered by the Canadian Instiute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) Ottawa Branch.

Mr. Patrick Stephenson
AMC Consultants Pty Ltd

A mining project depends first and foremost on its Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves. If these are poorly estimated or classified, the company has a potential disaster on its hands. Likewise, poor or misleading reporting can incur the wrath of the regulators, deter investment and, all too often these days, and result in costly and time-consuming litigation.

Pat Stephenson has spent most of his 45 years in the industry (36 in Australia and nine in Canada) in this area, and is a recognized international expert in Mineral Resource/Reserve estimation, classification and reporting. He has published extensively on this subject, one of the best known papers being “Mineral Resource Classification – It’s Time to Shoot the ‘Spotted Dog!’”. His lecture discusses not only important and relevant issues, but includes numerous case studies drawn largely from his personal experience. Particular reference is made to NI 43-101 and the latest developments in international Mineral Resource/Reserve reporting standards.
