The Departmental laboratory is used for sample preparation for members of the Earth Sciences Department, members of Carleton University community and external clients. The ESSPL is managed by the Earth Sciences Sample Preparation Laboratory Technician, Chris Rogers.

Facility Hours of Operation
Monday - Thursday: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Friday: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Closed 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM for lunch
Facility will be shut down from July 20 through August 14 for annual maintenance and annual vacation.

Anyone wishing to use the facility is required to contact the Technician. The online schedule can be found here.
Facility Access
Priority access to the Facility is as follows: 4th year honours thesis undergraduates, MSc, PhD, PDF, Research, and external users. Timeline for completion and length of time required to finish sample processing will be considered in scheduling at the discretion of the Facility technician.
ERTH 4908 Honours thesis students requiring thin sections will be provided with up to 20 thin sections related to their thesis at no charge to the supervisor. All work must be approved, in writing, by the student's supervisor before starting.
