Two Koningstein Scholarships for Excellence in Science and Engineering are "[a]warded annually, to outstanding graduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering and Design". Of the two, Marissa was awarded one of them this year.

She also received the Martin Bergmann Memorial Award for Resesarch in the Arctic, which is "[a]warded annually [...] to a graduate student doing research work in the Arctic." All graduate students at Carleton University are eligible for this award, however, only one is given. This scholarship was established in memory of Martin Bergmann, who was the Director of the federal Polar Continental Shelf Project (PCSP). He died tragically in a plane crash in Resolute Bay, Nunavut.

Marissa's Supervisor, Dr. Claudia Schröder-Adams, is supported by PCSP in her arctic research. She knew Mr. Bergmann personally.

Congratulations, Marissa, on all of your accomplishments!
