Dr. Saeid Cheraghi, New Postdoc in Earth Sciences

Friday, September 30, 2016

Dr. Saied Cheraghi recently joined the department as a new postdoctoral fellow, working under the co-supervision of Dr. Don White (NRCan) and Dr. Claire Samson. Dr. Cheraghi is doing theoretical and applied research in seismology as part of the Aquistore CO2 Storage Project (Estevan, Saskatchewan), sponsored by the Petroleum Technology Research Center. He is particularly interested in characterizing the Aquistore reservoir and its caprock using seismic interferometry and vertical seismic profiling. Dr. Cheraghi’s research complements the work of Ph.D. candidate Kyle Harris who uses a new technology, distributed acoustic sensing, to monitor the CO2 plume injected in the Aquistore reservoir.
