Professor Claire Samson with Dean Malcolm Butler

Every year the Faculty of Science celebrates excellence in teaching within our own faculty by awarding Faculty of Science Teaching Awards to faculty and contract instructors. This year we are proud to announce and congratulate two winners from the Department of Earth Sciences for their outstanding contributions in teaching:

  • Fred Gaidies, Associate Professor, who teaches mineralogy and metamorphic petrology, and leads the second-year field school
  • Claire Samson, Professor, who teaches introductory and advanced courses on natural disasters, and has co-authored the textbook used in her teaching
