Peter measuring the magnetic susceptibility of a small meteorite sample

Peter measuring the magnetic susceptibility of a small meteorite sample

Peter Oliver has recently been awarded a national scholarship from the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists for 2015-16. Peter graduated last year with a B.Sc.Hon. from our department. His B.Sc. thesis, done under the co-supervision of Dr. Claire Samson and Dr. Richard Ernst, concerned the magnetic properties of meteorites. Continuing on the “space” theme, for his M.Sc. research, Peter is using satellite radar data to measure ground deformation for geohazard risk management.  Peter is co-supervised by Dr. Claire Samson and Dr. Shawn Kenny from the Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Congratuations, Peter!
