The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada  offers an annual Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop (S-IMEW)  for senior Canadian undergraduate geosciences students. The 2015 program ran from May 1-15, primarily at Collège Boréal  in Sudbury. The second week included a field trip of four days to the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. Carleton's representative this year was graduating student Lianna Vice

By all accounts, it seems to have been a great experience for Lianna! The two weeks "were packed full of learning and activities that a classroom just couldn't teach you[,] and it all was coming from industry professionals". What's more, it seems that she has made some good friends for life.

All in all, Lianna reports that "SIMEW was a fantastic experience[.] I am so thankful that I was able to attend, it certainly gave me a whole new perspective on the industry."

Lianna will be starting her graduate studies at Simon Fraser University  in the fall. This summer, she is working for the Yukon Geological Survey . She leaves for the field today.

Lianna, we wish you every success in your future endeavors!
