Professor Claire Samson at the Joint Assembly of AGU-GAC-MAC-CGU

During the recent AGU-CGU-GAC-MAC Joint Assembly in Montreal, Professor Claire Samson was elected President of the Canadian Geophysical Union (CGU) for a two-year term.

The CGU represents the interests of Canadian geoscientists in many ways, such as in organized scientific meetings, interactions with funding agencies, and in advocacy of the role of science in society and policy-making. It includes 5 sections: hydrology, geodesy, solid earth, biogeosciences, and earth surface processes. Professor Samson has been an active member of the solid earth section for many years.
